ABOUT NYLANDER MOTORSPORT

Nylander Motorsport has been involved with many forms of motorsport over its 40 year history. From Speedway, Jet Boat racing, Drags and even Rally.

The team has been involved with the Late Model sedans since the division began in 1997. In fact the first Late Model ever raced in Australia was a Nylander Motorsport constructed car driven by Alan Nylander. Alan was crowned the Inaugural WA Late Model Champion in 1997 and Nylander Motorsport built racecars and/or engines have won just about every major title since then

The 2003/04 racing season saw Matthew Nylander step up from a very successful Junior Sedan career to the Late Model ranks. Matt adapted to the pace very quickly and was putting the pressure on some of the 'big names' within his first 4 race meetings. By the end of the race season Matt had recorded 2 podium places and finished a very creditable 5th place out of 26 competitors.

Matt Nylander was awarded the coveted 'Rookie of the Year' crown after his stellar first season at full flight. The team was also credited with the accomplishment of Driver's Driver Award. This award is one of the most highly accredited awards in any form of motorsport as you are being judged by fellow competitors. As far as we know, in speedway racing, a rookie of the year has never won the driver's driver award in the same year. The team was also awarded 'Top Points for the 360cubic inch Class'. Nylander Motorsport is the most successful rookie team in the history of Late Model racing in Australia.

As you can see our team now has a very sound knowledge of these cars, and Nylander Motorsport has a very bright future in Late Model racing.

Season 2004/05 saw Nylander Motorsport grow to a 2 car operation with both Matt and David Nylander driving a car each.
After a very promising rookie season from David and a challenging 2nd season from Matt, the team walked away with an array of awards, including: Rookie of the year (David), Top 360ci Points Scorer (David), 3rd place in the Pro Dirt Latemodel Series (Matt) and also Hard Charger Award (Matt).

Although the team has downsized to a one car operation for the 2005/06 season, the future looks bright for Nylander Motorsport. David and Matt are sharing the drive, taking in turns, one meeting at a time. A second vehicle will be brought out of the race car shed for the National and State Titles. The engine program has also stepped up a notch to the all alloy AJN built 410 cubic inch monster. This will give Nylander Motorsport the competitive edge.
